I don’t understand why people automatically write off Hollywood remakes and the people who like them.

I mean, some of them are terrible, that’s true - but there are some good ones that get overlooked, just because they’re lumped in with all the others.

For example (and this is probably sacrilegious), I preferred the American remakes of both The Ring and A Tale of Two Sisters. The fact that the intelligence and movie knowledge of people in the same boat as me is brought into question because of that makes me want to punch someone in the face.

Just because I prefer those remakes doesn’t mean I need ‘everything spelling out for me’, and it doesn’t mean I ‘don’t understand real scares.’ I just think the remakes were a lot tidier than the originals were. Of course, the original movies came up with the ideas, but maybe they were just executed a little better in the remakes.
